Modelling & Acting
"Modelling was something I never believed for something I could ever do. As a very self-conscious and shy man, particularly growing up, I would avoid any exposure. But difficult circumstances led me to a bit of alternative modelling. When covid shut the studio, I had to step in to present the Messyworld show and fill the gaps. This was I guess my first experience of modelling. Being covered in gunge was strangely better as I know that once I had been covered nobody could see me. This helped my self-consciousness. Then I was asked to model some costumes for a theatre supplies company. Again, the focus being more on the costumes rather than me. From here, a slightly odd segway into what I like to call Alternative Clothing Modelling. Before you ask, this flirts with f*tishwear clothing but remains fairly tame. For example, football kits, cycling gear, a hazmat suit etc. All fully clothed and non-sexual but to cater to very niche interests. It became a career saving job during lockdown and while incredibly nervous to begin with, I began to love it.
Shortly after taking on bespoke clothing modelling, I was asked to appear 'more feminine'. This was likely due to me having natural long hair and to quote 'a more feminine manner'. I have always enjoyed the creative side of putting together costumes and styling hair & makeup (hence the studio work) so this came fairly naturally to me. I had no issues with makeup or wearing over-the-top dresses.
With all my acting & modelling, I am always portraying a character, so I'm never feel embarrassed or uncomfortable. Anything that is happening isn't happening to me."
